To travel is to eat, taste your way around the world.

“If more of us valued food and cheer songs above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world”. Meanwhile, some of y’all are cranky because you don’t know the value of food, yes, I said it because a hungry man is an angry man.

One of the best decisions I have ever made is going into food blogging/vlogging. I’ve always loved food, especially junks. And I assure you that food makes me completely happy, because that is the key to my heart, if you ever offend me, just buy me food. Although, I don’t eat much, I love food regardless, mere looking at food makes me so happy. I totally agree with the person that said “laughter is brightest in the place where food is”.

Everyone undoubtedly knows how much I love travelling and food, but I don’t think they know that one of the many reasons I love traveling is because of food.

how adventurous am i with food?

For me, one of the most exciting aspect of travel is trying new dishes and exploring different traditional meals. Food is our common ground, a universal experience.

Although, I’m always eager to try out new dishes but I’m not very receptive to them, however, the Yoruba in me wouldn’t let me be great (I love pepper). The hardest time for me was 2018, I was in USA for 3 months and I was living far from town, I was working in an organization that provided three square meals for us with coffee all day and we weren’t allowed to cook, I ate all sorts from white rice and butter to microwaved ramen, to eating bread repeatedly. The only time I could get proper fast food was if a friend was driving to town or willing to drive me to town.

why food is an important part of travel

Travel and food are a package that cannot be separated. “Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe” – Anthony Bourdain

Anyway, that’s a gist for another day, my point is, food is a very important aspect of life (my life) as it is an important aspect of travel, which is why I decided to go into food blogging and restaurant reviews, because what is a better way to be happy than to be around food, there really is no sincerer love than the love for food.

I’d end by saying, I’m not a glutton, I’m an explorer of food, so when I say call me Simi the explorer, I’m not just talking about travel.
